It may be a little foolhardy to just rush out and share with your hard earned cash on something based on price alone. Ok, so I grasp that you on occasion get what you compensate for and it may be a very untrue economy to go for cheap goods that will need replacing in a short space of time.

The flip side of that is, spending ridiculous cash on something that is just too over the top when it comes to gadgets, gizmos and too much technology which makes it difficult to understand and so, gets put into the back of a cupboard and forgotten regarding before you even get started.

(Well, if I went out for the introductory time and managed to find an old coin then I am reasonably convinced that you could do it too).

It genuinely is as easy as going to your local park or beach or anyplace that persons have been and you in truth may find long lost, misplaced or even deliberately concealed bits and pieces. Of course with a little more experience you may soon tell the kind of places that are likely to more remunerative but, the sudden intense sensation of the sparetime activity is not knowing what or when you are going to find something. Who knows which day is the day that you strike gold, literally?

The other thing that may not be at the front of your mind when giving careful consideration to buying a metal detector is the fact that it is helpful for it to be compact and lightweight. You may find yourself having to do a bit of walking to your chosen search area and the last thing you want or need is to be carrying a bulky bit of kit.

With terrain in mind too another brilliant feature that you need to make sure is, that anything you buy is capable of dealing with ground balancing and depth indication which all go a long way in helping you to locate finds that you may other than as supposed or expected miss. 5Great Mid-Priced Metal Detector - Recommended
By C. F. Hill
The "Bounty Hunter Quick Draw II" (QDII) is a very good, feature rich, mid-priced metal detector. After doing a lot of exploration for a "real" metal detector as a gift for my teenage son, I found the features for the price made the QDII the clear choice.

The QDII has features that are in general only found on higher priced units:

* The LCD screen may indicate what type of metal has been found
* Indicates approximate depth
* The Notch Modes work well for filtering out most trash items

We have genuinely enjoyed using this sensible and precise metal detector!

The included "bonus" items are a Carrying Bag (a little smallish, but functional) and a "Bounty Hunter Pinpoint Pinpointer" (a little metal detector used to help locate items in the ground). Both are good quality and utile to have with the QDII.

Highly recommended!

The Quickdraw II is a great all-around metal detector. I largely use it in the "All metal" mode but have likewise employed it to notch out not wanted metals where it performs as advertised. I've dug up relics and coins, and the coin ID has been precise 99 percent of the time. You get employed to the dissimilar sounds and after a while may guess what metal you're digging (tab, rusted can, etc). I don't believe the depth indicator works accurately on mine so I use it as a guide moreso than gospel. Many detector ads tout depth finding capacity but how deep do you in truth need to go? Most of the stuff you'll find is not down that deep (2-8 inches or so - course your milege may vary). Took it to the beach and was satisfied. In the arid sand, it performed very well (get a good heavy-duty sand scooper for the beach). However, when applied too close to the water or in wet sand, the detector gives off a great deal of untrue readings as the sodium in the water drives it crazy. To adjust, I turned the sensitivity closely all the way down and was competent to use the detector - but doing so sacrifices capability to detect galore objects and probably gives up depth. The computer module is not water proof so you probably don't want to get too close anyway. I purchased the 10-inch coil for the beach and was pleased as it allows coverage of more area in one swipe and penetrates a little deeper. Difficulty with the 10-inch is pin-pointing the emplacement of the object when digging in the world but not an issue at the beach (much having little impact to scoop sand than earth). The 8-inch coil that comes with the unit is much better suitable for "zeroing in" on your find. Overall, I'm very pleased with the unit and highly recomment it for general aim metal detecting. If detecting at the beach was my main focus, then I would look for a dissimilar detector.
