5Bounty Hunter metal detector worked great
By W. Graham
I had lost my wedding band while disseminating mulch around the house and I decisive to try a metal detector to find it before replacing the ring. After doing some exploration on metal detectors, I decisive the Bounty Hunter model was a reasonably priced investment for the search. It was easy to assemble and use and I was competent to locate the lost ring after when it comes to 15 minutes of searching (I did have a ordinary idea of the emplacement of where the ring had gotten lost and it was only an inch or so beneath the surface).

4This detector is easy to use and works well.

This metal detector is easy to use and I actually like it's digital display that ACCURATELY identifies the type of metal found. I got it as a gift for my dad, but couldn't help attempting it out before giving it to him. As a test, it effortlessly found coins and keys tossed randomly thru the yard. I've also found coins and nails that were lost years before. I also with great success used it to find an odd-shaped aluminum spacer that dropped from my motorcycle someplace in the gravel driveway. I'm giving this one to my dad, but will buy another for myself. The motorcycle constituents incident convinced me this detector is well worth the $90. I would suggest buying a 4x4 plastic tarp, little shovel, and a lot of gardening hand troughs and rakes for use while detecting. We developed a good technique for yard-metal detecting. After getting a signal, cut up a cube of earth. Place the cube of world on the tarp. Scan the cube to see if the metal is in it. Use the hand tools to break up the dirt cube and find the metal. Once we have the metal we re-fill the hole from the dirt on the tarp. If you keep the sod intact, you may re-cover the hole very nicely.

3It Takes Practice
By David H. Williams
I purchased this device because I necessitated to find a lost survey pin in an overgrown field. Having now with great success applied it, I don't commend this model for that purpose. The promotion and product creative writing of recognized artisti value included in the product packaging make it clear that the device is designed to help humans looking for lost coins and jewelry. I suspect it would do that occupation rather well on beach sand, mowed lawn, trail or other comparatively clear area, but my assumption that a 1/2" diameter, 8' long, steel pin driven vertically into the ground would be easy to detect proved false. The instruction manual recommends sweeping the ground 1/2" above the surface. That isn't possible in a field overgrown with brambles. Holding the metal detector above the weeds invented no signal. The only solution was to run survey lines from traditionalisti coordinates to narrow the search area sufficient to enable clearing the ground with a sickle before searching with the metal detector. The detector itself is very precise, by which I mean it doesn't signal the presence of metal unless it is swept directly over the target. That minimizes untrue positive signals and would be a outstanding attribute for someone combing a beach for lost valuables. It proved to be a disfavor for my purpose. For finding survey stakes or, I suppose any specific target in a comparatively well specified area with less than idealisti terrain, I think a device that could observe the presence of metal from a more outstanding distance and either directly indicate the direction to the target or indirectly indicate it by altering the volume or pitch of the alarm based on the strength of the signal would be more useful. All that being said, I did find the lost survey pin 6"-8" underneath grade and doubt that I would have found it without a metal detector of some type so it did accomplish the task for which it was purchased--just not as expeditiously as I had hoped. I do think this model would work well for treasure hunting in a less rugged environment.
